I’ve be researching as months now plus finally clear on the samsung a550 series. I just got the tv 2 period ago, my first hdtv. I was primarily planning on getting a 46″ but couldn’t find the deal i wanted therefore i ended up picking the Samsung LN52A550. I was group of nervous for i’m getting a larger sized tv than planned plus might be overwhelmed with the size (9′ viewing distance). When we got it set-up it was awesome. It was big but not overwhelming. The size was just perfect plus couldn’t be happier. I liked the matte/semi-gloss tv screen because i have 2 big windows behind the couch when in-front of the tv plus no glare from all calm with the blinds frank. This is one of the major reasons i opted as the 550 series. The viewing angles are very nice too for i have a love seat plus a recliner seat on the side of my living chance plus it can be effortlessly viewed without any problems. I didn’t have hd serve yet, therefore i just hooked up indoor antennas into choose up ota (over-the-air) channels plus the built-in digital tuner picked up both sd plus digital channels plus a few hd channels. I was watching the nba finals game 5 plus was blown away. I was getting 720p feed from abc hd plus the picture was awesome. I did also arouse a few 1080i hd feeds from ota plus it looked great. I can’t pause into arouse a few hd channels (dish/cable) plus ps3 bluray with this set. Right now my set-up is ota plus my laptop hooked-up into the tv therefore i’m just scratching the tip of the iceberg on the full possible of this tv. The sound is ok if you use one of the amazon reviewers audio settings which i belive was taken from avsforums plus it is really worlds of difference from the default settings. Overall, this is a great plus wonderful tv.
